Do You Need a Representative for your Social Security Disability Hearing?
The short answer is yes! In fact the Social Security Administration has done studies through the years that reveal claimants with representatives are much more successful in getting approved than claimants without a representative.
In a 2003 report to Congress (GAO-04-14) the General Accounting Office found that claimants who were represented by an attorney or non-attorney were more likely to have their claims approved. A more recent report to Congress in December 2017 (GAO-18-37) reached the same conclusion. This report concluded that claimants with representatives were 2.9 times more likely to be approved for benefits with an attorney or non-attorney representative.
If you are looking for a local representative give me a call at (504) 309-8230 or go to www.dba.cc. I did my first Social Security disability hearing in 1975.
